Introduction to Box Plots
A box plot (also known as a box-and-whisker plot) is a standardized way of displaying data distribution based on a five-number summary:
- Minimum: The smallest value in the dataset
- First Quartile (Q1): The 25th percentile
- Median (Q2): The 50th percentile
- Third Quartile (Q3): The 75th percentile
- Maximum: The largest value in the dataset
Box plots are useful for visualizing the distribution of data, identifying outliers, and comparing distributions across groups.
